COVID-19 Tenant Update – October 10, 2020

The health and safety of our valued tenants is very important to us as we navigate through these unprecedented times. As COVID-19 updates are received through governmental and health officials, information will be shared for your reference.

Recently, the Ontario Government, in partnership with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, along with other health authorities, announced targeted public health measures in the Toronto, Peel and York Regions and Ottawa would be put in place for a minimum of 28 days; implementing modified Stage 2 measures. Review of these measures will be on an ongoing basis.

Modified Stage 2 measures include:

    Reducing limits for all social gatherings and organized public events to a maximum of 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors where physical distancing can be maintained.
    Prohibiting indoor food and drink service in restaurants, bars, and other food and drink establishments, including nightclubs, and food court areas in malls.
    Closing of:

      – Indoor gyms and fitness centres (ie: exercise classes, weight and exercise rooms);

      – Casinos, bingo halls and other gaming establishments;

      – Indoor cinemas;

      – Performing arts centres and venues;

      – Spectator areas in racing venues, and

      – Interactive exhibits or exhibits with high risk of personal contact in museums, galleries, zoos, science centres, landmarks, etc.

    Prohibiting personal care services where face coverings must be removed for the service (ie: makeup application, beard trimming).
    Gathering Limitations and Other Services:

      Tour and guide services to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors;

      – Real estate open houses to 10 people indoors, where physical distancing can be maintained;

      – In-person teaching and instruction (eg. cooking class) to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors, with exemptions for schools, child care centres, universities, colleges of applied arts and technology, private career colleges, the Ontario Police College, etc.;

      – Meeting and event spaces to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors;

      – Limiting team sports to training sessions (no games or scrimmages), and

      – Wedding receptions limited to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors at event spaces.

In addition, the Ontario government is also asking everyone’s cooperation to only leave their homes for essential purposes, such as work, school, grocery shopping, medical appointments, etc. Travel to other regions within the province should also be limited, although travel restrictions are not in place at this time. This is especially important when traveling from a higher transmission to lower transmission area.

The following measures continue to remain in place:

    Practice physical distancing with those outside your household;
    Wear a face mask where physical distancing is not possible and where it is mandatory;
    Wash or sanitize hands frequently and thoroughly;
    Follow gathering limits and restrictions for indoors/outdoors, and
    If feeling unwell, stay home.

We all can do our part in responsibly maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. As we work together during this unique time, we will continue to support our tenants as their business needs may change, to accommodate any necessary modifications based on the above.

Further updates will be provided as new information is shared by government and health officials to help us all move forward safely. Should you require additional assistance or guidance from your McCOR Management team, please feel free to reach out.
